A Visit to the MN State Fair

Jon and I had so much fun visiting the CA State Fair when we lived in Vacaville that we were really bummed that we couldn't go to the fair last summer when we were in the middle of house hunting. Well, now a year later, we're trying to sell that house that we searched so hard to find...but we decided to make time to have a little family minivacation in the midst of the chaos that is our lives. So last week we took Evan to the MN State Fair.

It was a bit different than the other state fairs we had been to...it seemed like the focus was more on what you could eat rather than what was there for you to try to do...but the food was good, the walk was enjoyable, and we had fun, so we aren't complaining! :) Evan's favorite things about the State Fair were the all-you-can-drink milk for $1 (Mommy and Daddy really liked that too...chocolate milk is such a treat!), the Miracle of Birth Center where we actually got to see baby pigs being born (and lots of other babies too!), and the staged police dog show where we got to see several police dogs attack pretend bad guys (should I be worried that Evan was laughing when the guys were bitten and attacked?...). Jon and I avoided some of the new state fair fads like deep fat fried bacon dipped in chocolate (GAG ME!), deep fat fried dill pickles, and anything else that would make a pregnant woman's stomach turn. But we did enjoy some fresh fries, LOTS of chocolate milk, fried cheese curds (yum!), and a bison burger, the walk around all the exhibits, and watching all of those people.

Enjoy a few of our pictures from the fair...to check out more, visit here.

Our favorite place to visit! :)

It's the granny from the Jay Leno show!
