But all in all, the trip was a success. The kids got to do a bunch of classic work with Pastor Randy, Tim, and Eric--tuck pointing, fixing concrete steps up to the church, tiling, ripping up tile, digging out a stump (pretty much by hand), sanding, cleaning...And the living conditions were a bit more rough than the kids would have liked. Since there was no AC for the St Louis weather, we all slept in the church basement--with all the dust and musty basement smells. There was one (stinky!) shower for us all to share, so they had to get used to military-style showers. And the bathrooms were, well, toilets in a room that maybe had a door that shut all the way. :) But they also got to experience a lot of Saint Louis: the arch, the zoo, Forest Park, the City Museum, Grant's Farm, the Loop, Fitz's, OSF downtown...And they got the chance to see the results of Acts 1:8 rennovations at the CRAVE coffeehouse. Here's a quick preview of some of the pics. Check out my album for some more.
