Blechacz Visit

A few weekends ago, our good friends Phil, Bethany, and Lily took a road trip to hang out with us for a weekend. A man from our church had given us four awesome tickets to see the Twins play, and we thought it would be cool for them to go to the game with us and see our house with furniture actually in it. :) So after a long seven hour trip in the car, we drove to the Mall of America to take the metro to the metrodome. It was our first Twins game, and Evan's first baseball game. We were a bit worried about getting the kids in the game (because they are over 30 inches tall...which is aparently the cut off for free seaters), and a bit worried about how they woudo do at the game. We were so blessed that both Evan and Lily really enjoyed the game. We were close enough to the field that they could follow the baseball as it moved about the field. They were both pretty mesmerized! Not only did we have great seats, but we got to see a great game too. The Twins started off with a lead over last year's World Champs, but by the 6th inning were behind by 2 runs. After the kids started getting sleepy, we decided to leave after the 6th inning, but the Twins came back to win it in the 9th.



Saturday morning Jon and I fixed a huge breakfast--homemade buscuits and gravy, homemade banana bread, scrambled eggs, and hot Berres Brother's Coffee--and we feasted together. :) Then we took the kids to the Children's Museum. They both took a quick nap on the way to St Paul. We got some really cute pictures! :) It was fun to see them actually attempt to play together for once...not just next to each other. Not that it lasted really long...they each had different interests and there was SO much to do there...Some highlights of the day were watching Evan and Lily climb around in the toddler room, seeing Lily play mommy to a dolly, watching Evan "drive" a bus (and run over a couple pedestrians), making bubbles, playing in the water, and bouncing on a big ball.




Several times this weekend, Evan really wanted to hold Lily's hand. While he did manage a couple of times, it was interesting to see how she had to warm up to the idea. Some times she would just look up at Bethany like, "Mommy! Make him stop!" ha ha ha. It's funny to see the differences between boys and girls at this age. Evan doesn't want anything to do with our permission or blessing. He just does it all himself. Little Mr. Independent. Yeesh! Lily is so dainty--even her voice!...and Evan speaks purposefully in a lower voice, wrecking everything he can get his hands on. He's so rough...and strong! We really have our hands full!




Saturday night we enjoyed a special treat--Papa John's pizza! And after the kiddos went to bed, the Moms and Dads enjoyed some wii fellowship. I stink at Mario Cart. We were well matched at tennis. And everyone had fun with Mario Party. It was so much fun to share this special time with Phil and Bethany. We anxiously await the arrival of their wireless internet so we can play each other even when we're away... :)


Sunday Phil and Bethany and Lily went to church with us, and then we headed off to IKEA for a Mother's Day Brunch and some shopping. So it wasn't the greatest Mother's Day meal ever, but I think the best part about my Mother's Day was that I got to spend it with my favorite fellow Mom--Bethany. :) We had a lot of fun at IKEA too. There's so much to see...and dream...and wish...and hope...well, one day maybe...




Saying goodbye is never any fun. My biggest complaint about the whole weekend was that it went way too fast! Two days just isn't enough time!! :( We're so glad that the Blechaczs came for a visit, and we are totally looking forward to a longer one sometime soon! :)
